Cooinda Acres of Det was purchased from the Dalby Stockhorse Sale in 2009 as a 4 year old. With a proven sire in Acres Destiny, and a Dam with bloodlines running back to Elliots Creek Cadet and Abbey, he was seen as an ideal fit into the Frankfield Stockhorse Stud. in 2010 Det was successfully Challenged by Scott Schoo, competing at Cloncurry, Rocky Rush and Horse of the North, among other smaller competitions. He received several placings, including a 6th in the Maiden Campdraft at Weetalabah. Det was lightly campdrafted in 2012 and 2013, as well as spending around 5 months campdraft training with Pete Comiskey.

In 2014 Pete began Det’s true year of professional campdrafting. At his first event, Springsure, Pete had 3 runs where he scored 85, 85 and 89 – he was off to a great start. Unfortunately, a tragic turn of events saw Det catching Colic only a few weeks after and he was put down at Pete and Bryony’s home, Westpoint, near Nebo. His burial site remains there today.

Det was destined to be a champion sire, as he was competitive in his own right and now his progeny are continuing his legacy and performing well. The first generation of foals are now 5 years old and placed in several different Futurity events in 2015. In 2016, his second generation of foals started competing, with a beautiful young mare Frankfield Calesi, being highly successful in the Central Queensland Futurity Circuit, running 6 outside scores from 7 starts. She then went on to place 4th at Weetalabah, run-off for 1st at Clermont (with a score of 91) and finishing second, as well as then making the final of the Campdraft Central Future Star Series and finishing 6th overall.

In 2016/2017 we have several young horses, all by Acres of Det, who will start their Futurity career. 2016 will also be the last generation of Acres of Det foals that we will break-in, which is a bitter-sweet moment. We look forward to our Det progeny continuing their high level of performance in the campdraft arena and hope that his short legacy can live on for many years to come.

What our past employees say?

"I worked with the Burnett Group for over 5 years and can not speak highly enough of the support and guidance that I received in this time. I was initially employed as a Stationhand, however then moved into the Headstockman position at Frankfield. My partner Holly and I were sad to leave, but we have left with a great memories and the knowledge to pursue other interests in the beef cattle industry."
